Care Letters creates and delivers heartfelt words of hope and encouragement to children and families facing medical or other life challenges. Most often, we focus on critically ill children, their siblings, and young victims of natural disasters. Our mission is to restore hope during a difficult time by wrapping our collective arms around struggling families, to remind them of the legion of light and love surrounding them.
Care Letters’ annual Writing Events are a “creative studio” and, really, the beating heart of our mission. They are warm, effectual gatherings, where we welcome the community into a helpful project space, provide resources for volunteering locally, and share our signature Language of Crisis as a helpful tool. Since its inception in 2005, this language has empowered thousands of people to speak with confident compassion in times of crisis.
Our greatest hope is that every letter produced at a Care Letters writing event helps to re-light a lantern for someone, and that volunteers leave our events inspired and eager to spread the spirit of volunteerism.
